The cost of representation
How much will it cost?
The exact fee will depend on your specific facts and charges. We base our fees on the projected number of hours we will have to spend representing you in your defense against the state, and we assume that we will have to prepare for a trial. Of course, complicated facts and serious charges will cost more than minor offenses.
What other expenses are involved?
In addition to our fees for representation, you may have to pay the expense of hiring our own investigators, expert witnesses, and lab tests. Smaller fees might include copies from the court clerk, mailings, and often doctors will charge for copies of reports and files.
Why do you charge for phone calls?
The only thing a lawyer has to sell is time. There's nothing else. When you hire a lawyer you're hiring someone to spend time working on your case, whether that time is drafting pleadings, arguing for you to the jury, negotiating with the D.A., or even talking on the phone.
Do you take credit cards?
Yes, you can pay your fees using any credit card through PayPal.com.
How else can I pay you?
Hopefully the need for legal representation is a once in a lifetime ordeal. Money is a minor problem when you're facing years and years in prison. This is the time to ask family and friends for help, dip into emergency funds, or even take out a loan.
What happens to the money I give you?
Legal fees we earn for taking your case are ours to keep. Money you give us for witness fees, court costs, or other expenses does not belong to us, and we are required to hold money that is not ours in a trust account, which is a special account that keeps your money separate from our funds. The State monitors attorney trust accounts very closely to ensure your money is used for your case.
